Jasper AI Alternatives: Cheaper & Free Options
Seven AI writing tools compared on what their own pricing pages say, from free plans to $79 a month, with a plain verdict on who each one suits.
The Pro plan at Jasper costs $69 per seat per month billed monthly, and that price is the benchmark for every one of the Jasper AI alternatives below. Some undercut it by a wide margin, a few are free, and one or two cost more.
AIBlogWrite wrote this comparison, and AIBlogWrite is one of the seven options in it. We haven't tested any of these tools. Everything here comes from what each company publishes on its own pricing page, checked on 3 November 2026, and prices change, so confirm before you buy.
What Jasper costs and what you get for it
Jasper sells two plans. Pro is $69 per seat per month billed monthly, or $59 per seat per month if you pay yearly up front, which commits you for twelve months.
Pro includes one seat, two Brand Voices, five knowledge assets and three audiences, and Jasper's page says extra users mean talking to sales. Business is custom-priced, adds API access, admin controls and unlimited Brand Voices, and also runs on a 12-month commitment. A 7-day free trial of Pro is available.
So the real cost of Jasper for a small team is the seat price multiplied by headcount. That's worth holding in mind when you read the rest.
Jasper AI alternatives compared side by side
Here are seven tools, listed alphabetically so nobody gets top billing for being ours. Each row shows the cheapest paid plan the company lists, how it's billed, and whether there's a free option.
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan | How it's billed | Free option | What the plan allows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AIBlogWrite | $20 a month (Starter) | Per month | Free plan, four posts, $0 forever | 10 blog posts a month |
| Copy.ai | $29 a month (Chat) | $29 monthly, or $24 a month on annual billing | None listed | 5 seats, unlimited words in chat |
| Frase | $39 a month (Starter) | Billed yearly at $468 | 7-day trial, no free plan | 10 articles a month, 1 seat, 1 site |
| Jasper | $69 per seat a month (Pro) | $59 a month if billed yearly | 7-day trial | 1 seat, 2 Brand Voices |
| Koala | $25 a month (Starter) | Monthly or annual | One-time 5,000 words | 45,000 words a month |
| Rytr | $9 a month (Lite) | Monthly, or yearly at 20% off | 10,000 characters a month, renewing | Unlimited characters on paid plans |
| Writesonic | $79 a month (Starter) | Billed annually | Trial, no free plan | 15 articles a month, 1 user |
The allowances are measured in different units (posts, articles, words, characters), which is why a straight price comparison misleads. Divide by what you actually publish.
Which Jasper AI alternatives are free?
Three of the seven have a free plan or allowance, which makes them the easiest Jasper AI alternatives to try. Rytr's is the only one that renews, with 10,000 characters a month on its Free plan, which is a few short pieces rather than a full article.
Koala's free tier is a one-time allowance of 5,000 words and 25 credits, so it works as a test drive and nothing more. Frase and Writesonic offer trials but no free plan, and Jasper's trial runs seven days.
AIBlogWrite's Free plan is four blog posts at $0 forever, with no credit card needed to start. We built it so you can see finished posts on your own site before choosing a plan, and you can start free in a couple of minutes.
Cheaper than Jasper, from $9 to $29 a month
On price alone, Rytr wins. Its Lite plan is $9 a month and Personal is $19, against Jasper's $69, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. If you need short-form copy and a low bill, it beats us on cost.
Our own paid plans are the Own API key plan at $19 a month, where you pay your AI provider for the writing, Starter at $20 for 10 posts, and Growth at $69 for 15 posts. Full details sit on the AIBlogWrite pricing section.
Among the cheaper Jasper AI alternatives, Koala's Starter plan is $25 a month for 45,000 words.
Meanwhile Copy.ai lists its Chat plan at $29 a month for five seats, or $24 a month billed annually. Five seats for $29 undercuts Jasper's single seat at $69 by a long way, though Copy.ai's page describes workflows and chat rather than finished blog posts.
Where the pricier options make sense
Not all Jasper AI alternatives are cheaper, and two cost more than Jasper's Pro tier.Writesonic starts at $79 a month billed annually for 15 articles, and its plans also track visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and include site audits. If that tracking matters to you, the price buys something Jasper's page doesn't list.
Frase starts at $39 a month billed yearly for 10 articles, and its Professional plan at $103 a month covers 40 articles, three seats and five sites. That's the better fit for an agency handling several client sites.
Beyond a seat or two, Jasper's per-seat model gets costly fast, because its page sends extra users to sales. Alternatives that price by output rather than by person, like AIBlogWrite or Frase, scale differently.
Which tool suits which kind of business

A verdict is more useful than a shrug, so here it is, tool by tool.
- Rytr suits solo writers who want a cheap drafting helper and will edit, format and publish by hand.
- Koala suits anyone who wants to try a word-based plan first, since its free allowance is enough to judge the output, and its page lists WordPress publishing on paid plans.
- Copy.ai suits a small team that wants several seats cheaply.
- Frase suits agencies and anyone who wants research and audits bundled with articles.
- Writesonic suits teams that want AI-search visibility tracked alongside their articles and can pay for it.
- Jasper suits marketing teams that want brand voice controls and are happy to pay per seat.
- AIBlogWrite suits businesses that want posts researched, written and published to WordPress or Next.js on a schedule without anyone opening an editor.
If your goal is a blog that runs itself, we think that last description is the one to match against. If your goal is a writing assistant you drive yourself, Rytr or Koala will cost you less.
Is AI blogging software cheaper than a human writer?
Compared with commissioning each post, AI blogging software changes the arithmetic, and our guide to what a blog post costs sets out the usual per-post range.
At $20 a month for 10 posts, AIBlogWrite works out to about $2 a post on the Starter plan, though you'd still want to read what goes live. Whether the posts rank is a separate question, which we cover in whether AI content can rank on Google.
Our honest comparison of AI blog writers goes deeper on the tools aimed at publishing, if that's the job you're hiring for.
How to choose between AI blog writing software options
Start with the unit you'll actually consume. If you publish ten articles a month, a plan sold in characters tells you little, so pick one counted in posts or articles.
Next, count the people who need to log in, because per-seat pricing is where a small bill becomes a large one. Then use every free plan and trial before paying anything. When you shortlist Jasper AI alternatives, remember that yearly billing discounts of 20% sound good, but they lock you in for twelve months on the tools that require it.
Finally, add up the work that stays with you. A cheap tool that leaves research, formatting and publishing to you costs hours, and hours are the bill nobody lists on a pricing page.
